Credit Agricole Bank invites to the 14th French Spring in Ukraine

24 March 2017

It is the third time that Credit Agricole Bank supports French Spring in Ukraine as a general partner and invites to the 14th Festival that will start on 1 April in Kyiv.

Though the festival was supposed to be held just once in 2004, it will be conducted for the fourteenth time. On top of that, this year it will expand its geography: Berdychiv and Ivano-Frankivsk will join Kyiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Lviv, Odesa, Rivne and Kharkiv. Credit Agricole Bank, Embassy of France in Ukraine, the French Institute in Ukraine, and Alliance Française network propose to dive once again into the diversity of the French art, to enjoy the achievements of French and Ukrainian cooperation and to find inspiration for new accomplishments. Schedule the events of French Spring in Ukraine in your April calendars.

«This year’s event is special because we celebrate the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between France and Ukraine. It is almost the same period of time that Credit Agricole Bank has been successfully operating in Ukraine, facilitating the development of its economy and proving our devotion to this country. Our support of the French Spring Festival and, globally speaking, promotion of cultural exchange between France and Ukraine evidence the intention of the bank to enhance its presence in the country», Jean-Paul Piotrowski, the CEO of Credit Agricole Bank, comments.

Since day one of the festival, its organizers have been treating street arts with special care and love. Despite complicated organization and logistics and high cost of street projects, they make all efforts to open each French Spring with an extraordinary event, a street performance that charms both adults and children. French street artists are known all over the world and each year a new performance company presents its shows to the Ukrainians. Flying marionettes, fire installations, water shows, acrobatic feats of angels raining down their feathers or light projections have entertained the spectators since April 2004.

The evening of 1 April 2017 when the French company Deus Ex Machine will tell the story of a great man in the street circus performance «Galileo» in Sofiivska Square will be no exception.

«Year-on-year, French Spring gives the opportunity to learn and discover the diversity of the French culture to the Ukrainians. This year, we will see a breath-taking performance of aerial artists about the life story of Galileo. I am convinced that this event will surprise all of us”, Jean-Paul Piotrowski notes. «Once again, I want to invite all Ukrainians to attend the event and to feel positive emotions, joy and pleasure!».

«Galileo» is a story inspired by understanding that the Earth is a planet turning around the Sun contrary to the scientific ideas that predominated in the 17th century. Which of our today’s ideas will turn out to be wrong in the future? This is a story of aerial people who transfer their knowledge balancing on a rope. Acrobatic feats up to 30 meters high in the air, light projections, a flood of confetti and the words of the determined inventor: «And yet it moves» are waiting for their spectators on Saturday night.

Two French-Ukrainian co-productions – the performance «Antigone» and the ballet with break-dance elements «Motion» – have been already seen and appreciated by Kyiv audience. Other Ukrainian cities will see these projects in April. New films at Pre-premier Festival, French short movies, concerts, exhibitions, thought exchanges and many other interesting events will take place in April during the French Spring in Ukraine Festival.
