Climate Strategy

Group Credit Agricole S. A. as the 10th largest bank in the world with a loan portfolio of EUR 1,213 billion and a leading partner of the French economy, strives to contribute to environmental protection and the fight against climate change at the European and global levels.

The Group's climate strategy is based on 3 complementary aspects:

  • Financing and significant investment in renewable energy sources, low-carbon infrastructure, clean technologies and energy-efficient projects;
  • Support of all customers in their social and economic changeover;
  • Stop financing any new fossil fuel extraction projects and applying selective approaches to them to support energy industry participants involved in the changeover process. This will reduce the sector's carbon footprint twice as fast according to the Net Zero 2050 scenarios defined by the International Energy Agency.

You can familiarize yourself with the Group's detailed report on sustainable development here. This document is the result of the joint efforts of all units of Credit Agricole S. A. Group.

Credit Agricole Bank fully shares the aspirations for sustainable development, as well as the Group’s goals and aims to be among the TOP-3 green banks in Ukraine. For this, the bank implements the best global practices: it has its own solar batteries, electric cars for work trips and electric scooters, conducts energy audits and introduces new energy-efficient technologies in construction. Within the "green" office project, employees sort garbage, use paper made from 100% recycled materials and sulfate-free detergents. Every year, the bank's team supports the Earth Hour movement, plants trees and implements good initiatives, such as installing eco-hotels for insects.

In July 2023, Credit Agricole Bank joined the Group’s Net-Zero project and began work on the development of a carbon footprint calculation methodology, including an assessment of the bank's loan portfolio. The bank plans to integrate ESG standards into the risk management system and has developed an internal strategy for sustainable development.
