ISO 20022

General information on ISO 20022

The National Bank of Ukraine has initiated introduction of the methodology of ISO 20022 international standard and the transition to SEP 4.0 in all banks of Ukraine, including Credit Agricole. Introduction of the methodology of ISO 20022 international standard and transition to SEP 4.0 are aimed at offering banks and businesses new opportunities, using a single data exchange standard and integrating the national payment space with the international one, increasing the security of payments.

Changes in the work of Credit Agricole in connection with the adoption of the ISO 20022 standard

In connection with adoption of the ISO 20022 standard and the next generation of SEP 4.0 in Credit Agricole Bank, changes will be implemented in processing payments in domestic currency, which customers initiate (create) through bank outlets and remote service systems:

  • processing and carrying out payments in the domestic currency, received by the remote service systems that comply with the rules for automatic processing during weekends from 9:00 to 17:00;
  • changing the forms of settlement documents (payment order, memorial order, payment request, payment request-order) to payment instruction;
  • emergence of new optional participants of payment: initiator, actual payer, actual recipient;
  • new types of identification of payment participants;
  • changing the structure of the payment instruction (new rules for filling in fields, mandatory parameters, etc.);
  • increasing the size of the purpose of payment field to 420 characters (instead of 160);
  • increasing the size of the document number field to 35 characters (instead of 10);
  • printed forms of payment documents have been updated;
  • changes in import files (for customers that import payments into the remote service system);
  • possibility of performing new types of operations (for example, request for a credit transfer, request for a refund, etc.).
New payment participants in compliance with ISO 20022 standard

In accordance with the ISO 20022 standard, new optional fields will appear in the payment instruction – additional payment participants (roles).

Actual payer – entity that is indicated as the actual payer in the payer's payment instructions and whose monetary obligations the payer fulfills by initiating a payment transaction from its account.

Actual recipient – entity that is indicated in the payer's payment instructions as the actual recipient of the funds and to whose account the recipient will transfer the funds upon the occurrence of respective grounds.

Initiator – entity that, on legal grounds, initiates a payment transaction by creating and/or submitting a respective payment instruction, including the use of a payment instrument.

As part of updating the form of settlement documents to a payment instruction and the appearance of new payment participants (roles), the form and fields of the payment instruction have been updated.

New import file formats (for legal entities)

In accordance with the new payment standard ISO 20022, the import files have been changed. Please note that the current import file formats will remain operational after April 1, 2023 and will allow payment instructions with the above “Recipient Code” identifiers to be uploaded to the system. Also, current import file formats will not support uploading of payment instructions with transfer participants Actual Recipient and Actual Payer.
