Credit Agricole Bank has become for the 7th year in a row the general sponsor of the annual Adam Smith Ukrainian Agribusiness Forum. The event that took place on 22nd of March in Hilton Kyiv was dedicated to the “Channelling investment to secure Ukraine’s position as an important player in global agricultural markets”. This annual meeting-place gathered over 150 representatives of the Ukrainian and international agribusiness communities.
Jean-Paul Piotrowski, Chairman of the Board was honoured to open the Forum and greet all the participants on behalf of Credit Agricole Bank. Mr. Piotrowski stated that during the turbulent years for Ukraine the agricultural sector had proved to be resilient and fruitful for the whole economy and became the strategic sector for this country. This led to understanding of the size of the potential of its agri-agro sector.
“Potential of Ukraine in agri production, processing, exports to the world market is far from being exploited. Ukraine has the ambition to be once again a grain basket, but not only for Europe, but a worldwide basket of crop commodities sold for food, feed, energy and all other non-food industries. We understand that such ambition is realistic but quite demanding. Challenges are still in front of us. More investments into production, processing and storage facilities, equipment, logistics are needed as well as long-term driven policies. - Jean-Paul said. - We at Credit Agricole remain committed to Ukraine and its agricultural sector. Our shareholder is quite satisfied with our results and continues to build a strong bank in this country. Today we benefit from the image of the reference bank and opinion leader for agri-agro sector. Our development strategy reaffirms our agri-agro orientation by reinforcing relations with the existing customers, acquiring new ones, value chain creation via development of partnership programs with multinational players for local companies, new product offers and broader distribution of our agri- agro expertise”.
Larysa Bondarieva, Member of the Board, Credit Agricole Ukraine was one of the speakers during the second section of the Forum, covered the issues concerning the availability of financing and investments and where it can add the most value.
Jean-Jacques Hervé, Advisor to the Chairman, Credit Agricole Ukraine was honoured to moderate the third section dedicated to the development strategies and case studies of best practice from the leading agriholdings.
