Over UAH 1.1 million worth of medical equipment for National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics of NAMS Ukraine

Credit Agricole Bank has recently donated modern medical equipment – ultrasound diagnostic device worth over UAH 1.1 million – to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine. This is essential, state-of-the-art equipment for examining the musculoskeletal system. It improves diagnostic accuracy and facilitates the successful performance of complex joint surgeries. This worthy initiative was made possible with the help of “Your Support” charitable foundation.

Specialists at the institute are already using the new device in the sports and ballet injury department, where patients with the most complex injuries undergo treatment and rehabilitation. Due to the war, the department has also taken on the additional task of assisting in the recovery of civilian casualties who have suffered severe injuries as a result of hostilities. The arrival of this class of equipment takes the institute’s care to a fundamentally new level.

“For a long time, we worked with outdated equipment that was no longer up to the task. The new device, equipped with a high-frequency linear transducer, is a game-changer. It provides perfect real-time imaging, enabling us to perform intra-articular injections, punctures, and nerve blocks with pinpoint accuracy and in complete safety”, — noted Oleksandr Kostrub, MD, head of the department.

Roman Derkach, Chief Physician of the Institute, Honored Doctor of Ukraine, expressed his gratitude to the donor and the benefactors, emphasizing that given the increased strain on the healthcare system, upgrading the infrastructure is key to restoring the health of thousands of Ukrainians.

The National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics of the NAMS Ukraine is a leading institution in Ukraine specializing in scientific, clinical and practical work in traumatology, orthopedics and diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Last year alone, the department operated on about 2,200 patients, performed over 2,000 intra-articular injections and provided outpatient treatment to about 4,000 patients.
