On 12 April, the campaign «Pass the Ball» by Mastercard with the participation of partners and the fabulous footballer Oleksandr Shovkovskyi was officially launched in Kyiv. In the course of drawing of lots, football grounds to be renovated under the project were distributed among the participants in the initiative. As a result of the drawing, Credit Agricole Bank together with Mastercard are going to renovate a football ground in Kharkiv at 142 Traktorobudivnykiv St.

Totally, as part of the project, Mastercard and partners will renovate 14 playgrounds in 12 cities of Ukraine: Brovary, Dnipro, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhia, Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, Rivne, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernivtsi and Chernihiv.
The key factors in selecting the playgrounds were as follows: location in a populous area of the city, open access for everyone interested, and the recommendations of local authorities. Renovation of the playgrounds will include the replacement of the field’s covering and the installation of new fences, as well as sports equipment.

Therefore, we, together with our partners, focus on renovating sites that serve the community for many years and will be starting new football stories. A recent study, carried out by Mastercard, also showed that most of the respondents (84%) believe that the renovation of outdoor playgrounds will have a positive effect on local residents. In addition, 48% of Ukrainians are convinced that football unites friends and encourages people to meet new people. 43% of Ukrainians believe that football is a way to relax and relieve stress, and 17% have played football since their childhood.
