Intensive Care Unit for Babies” charitable initiative by Credit Agricole among winners of “Responsible Country 3.0” competition by MMR.ua

18 April 2025

Credit Agricole’s charitable initiative to install and equip a state-of-the-art ICU for newborns in Kyiv Regional Perinatal Center has won in the category "Cooperation of business and charitable fund". It emerged victorious among 80 projects based on vote held among readers and expert jury panel. Social initiatives competition “Responsible Country 3.0” was held by the editorial team of MMR.ua publication. The results were published on April 9, 2025.

Construction of the intensive care unit in Kyiv Regional Perinatal Center is the most wide-reaching project by Credit Agricole, worth UAH 45 million. It involved major repairs of the premises with installation of an autonomous ventilation system and procurement of units of the latest medical equipment. The project was implemented with the joint effort of Credit Agricole Ukraine, Credit Agricole Group Foundation, regional banks Credit Agricole Brie Picardie, Credit Agricole Nord de France with the help of Your Support Charity Fund. In the summer of 2024, the Perinatal Center received all the needed expert grade medical equipment, such as resuscitation systems for newborns, artificial lung ventilation equipment, patient monitors, blood gas analyzers, etc.

“Due to the war, the number of prematurely born babies has significantly increased, so the modern intensive care units have become a dire need. According to doctors, in just a few months of exploitation of the unit, the preemie survival rate has increased. 1068 children were born in the center in 2024. Every fifth baby is born prematurely and requires special help. One of the most miraculous stories from the new ICU is a little girl who was delivered weighing only 490 grams, she was connected to the artificial lung ventilation apparatus within the first seconds of her life. Now she is at home. This is the result of the incredible work done by doctors, modern equipment and, above all, belief that even the tiniest life is worth immense efforts. We call this project an investment in the nation ’s recovery, as its greatest value is the saved lives of children”, – shares Viktoriia Torianyk, Head of Brand and Communications Department of Credit Agricole.

In the wartime, when the medical system is operating with the superhuman efforts and the number of prematurely born babies is increasing, supporting such centers is essential to save lives of the smallest patients.

“Thanks to support from Credit Agricole, the center received state-of-the-art medical equipment helping us save lives of our smallest patients – those who were born needing to fight for their lives. This equipment is more than just technology. It is a chance. It is hope. It’s a small miracle enabling doctors to do everything within their powers to help a child survive, grow and develop healthily,” – notes Oleksandr Kachur, General Director of CNPE of KRC “ Kyiv Regional Perinatal Center”.

“We are grateful to Credit Agricole Ukraine for their unwavering support, resilience and true care for the lives of the small Ukrainians! We thank everyone who voted for our project in the competition — you gave us even more confidence to move further. When business, charity and community come together, great changes come about. And we are delighted to be part of this movement”, - commented Valeriia Tatarchuk, founder of Your Support Foundation.
