Credit Agricole has traditionally partnered with the annual Ukrainian field crop tour Agro Expedition 2025 by Latifundist Media. The tour has been in place since 2013, and this year will be held from October 13 to October 17.
During the program, the Credit Agricole Agroteam together with the project organizers will visit all of the key regions – central, northern, southern, eastern and western parts of Ukraine. The program envisions visits to businesses of different scales, from large agroholdings to farms.
The goal of this expedition is to see the real state of the fields, the structure of the crop area, and the cultivation and security technologies, as well as to discuss the challenges of the current season together with the agrarians, with a focus on:
- the growth of winter rapeseed sprouts;
- the state of winter grain sowing for the 2026 harvest;
- climate shocks and their impact on the harvest;
- the change in crop rotation due to the new reality.
The trip format is as follows: every day, the participants will visit 1-2 agricultural business, and talk with agronomists, managers, machine operators, and technical specialists.
Credit Agricole stresses that in 2025, the majority of the agrarians felt the increasing impact of climate risks on their business. April frosts have had a negative impact on the harvest of rapeseed and wheat, while drought in southern and southeastern regions reduced the sunflower yield. As a result, the gross sunflower harvest is expected to be lower at around 12.7 million tons, which will affect the prices and margins of oil producers.
The case of corn is more optimistic. In the regions of the main crops, there was timely precipitation. Though, autumn rains force the agrarians to search for the additional funding for drying late crops.
“During the current agro tour, we plan to make a regional evaluation of the agro producers’ decisions that they made for the production season 2026. Only by understanding the steps of these agro producers, we can provide them with good support and optimal financial solutions and instrument,” says Ihor Hurzhii, head of the Agroexpertise Division at Credit Agricole Bank.
“The 2025 season has confirmed the main trend of recent years: yield and stability in changing conditions are both important. Spring windows for sowing and unevenly distributed humidity have once again put stress resistance and the plasticity of hybrids to the forefront,” noted Viktoriia Taran, director of the Marketing and Communications Department at KWS UKRAINE.
She added that this year, it was key for the sunflower to combine the resistance to diseases and weather stress. The updated portfolio of hybrids gave farmers a wider choice for different growing conditions.
As for the corn, the season put to test hybrids’ cold resistance at the beginning and swift growth, and drought resistance later, during grain filling. These were the qualities of this year’s leaders.
“As part of the Agro Expedition program, we plan to show our agrarian partners, KWS products and their growth technology, the challenges of the current season, and the solutions offered by KWS UKRAINE. We will also discuss the upcoming season and new products that are currently available for ordering. KWS remains a reliable seed partner that not only supplies seeds, but also builds Ukraine’s future together with the agrarians,” added Viktoriia Taran.
