Credit Agricole's official position in response to the NBU statement

In response to the statement that the NBU recently published regarding the exit of international financial groups from the russian market, we once again confirm the official position of the Crédit Agricole Group, which was published in March 2022: “Since the beginning of the war, Crédit Agricole has stopped all new financing for russian companies and all commercial activity in the country”.

Credit Agricole Group has built in Ukraine a universal retail proximity bank, with 148 branches and 2,400 employees. For years, the Group has been committed to contributing to the country’s development, with the modernization of agriculture as a priority. Credit Agricole Group is proud of courage and mobilization of all the Ukrainian employees, who are at the service of customers and the Ukrainian economy.

We need to state also the following:

•    We confirm that as soon as the war began, the Group stopped all new financing for Russian companies and all commercial activity in the country.

•    Outstanding amounts related to financing concluded before the beginning of the war are managed in extinction in compliance with our contractual and legal obligations.

•    The few residual positions in Russian securities held by Group entities could not be sold to the combined effect of international sanction as well as Russians counter-sanctions, and are therefore now frozen.

•    In response to the russian  military aggression in Ukraine, since the first day of the war Crédit Agricole has expressed and demonstrated complete solidarity with its employees and the Ukrainian population. It has launched at €10 millions solidarity fund to meet the needs of employees and Ukrainians affected by the war.

•    In war time Credit Agricole employees work every day and provide daily banking for customers, the bank provided almost UAH 21 million to help war victims.

We continue to work steadily and fulfill our obligations to customers, employees and society in the war time.

Even during the war, the bank proves to be highly reliable and able to effectively address destabilizing factors. Credit Agricole maintains strong capital and liquidity positions, and has ongoing support of the international financial Group. The bank is a leader in social responsibility and is in the TOP-3 in the nomination of reliability of bank deposits from Standard-Rating also in TOP-10 leading banks according to the FinClub annual ranking. And also the bank invests in digital solutions and the branch network, has resumed lending and launches new products.
