Credit Agricole in the shortlist of “Partnership for Sustainability Award – 2020”

03 December 2020

Charity aid to hospitals as part of the «We Care!» program of the bank was shortlisted in the category “Fighting COVID-19” of “Partnership for Sustainability Award – 2020” competition by UN Global Compact Network Ukraine. The objective of the competition is to demonstrate real business cases of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of the country and the world through partnership.

Since the beginning of the COVID crisis, Credit Agricole together with “Your Support” charity fund have implemented five waves of charity and allocated UAH 11.2 million for purchase of medical equipment for base hospitals in Kyiv, Ternopil, and Kharkiv, and equipping the intensive care unit of the regional hospital in Chernivtsi. Charity initiatives of the bank facilitate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals: “Good Health”, in particular, fighting the pandemic and reduction in premature mortality.

Acting every day in the interests of our customers and society  is the raison d’etre of Credit Agricole. Therefore, when COVID-19 pandemic switched the lives of Ukrainian to confinement mode, the bank did not hesitate to start acting. Our response to the global coronavirus challenge is to help hospitals and patients through purchase of the up-to-date medical equipment. The bank has provided comprehensive equipment to the intensive care unit in Chernivtsi hospital where patients in critical conditions are being rescued, and supports two more base hospitals on a regular basis. We can see that social initiatives of business save lives and thus, we are currently implementing two more charity projects: we help a child care center in Kharkiv and purchase oxygen concentrators”, Viktoriia Torianyk, Head of PR and Internal Communications of Credit Agricole Bank, comments.

The projects of participants of “Partnership for Sustainability Award – 2020” competition were evaluated by the expert jury that comprised managers of UN Global Compact from various countries. Key evaluation criteria included scope and relevance of the project. Besides Credit Agricole, 13 more companies were shortlisted in the category “Fighting COVID-19”.
