Credit Agricole experts made a presentation at the business-breakfast “Current Situation in Agrimarket: Finance and Trends”

On 28 August, a business breakfast devoted to prospects of land market reforms, yield forecast and latest agrofinance trends took place in Kyiv. The event was organized by Credit Agricole Bank and Union of Ukrainian Entrepreneurs (UUE). Larysa Bondarieva, Deputy CEO of Credit Agricole Bank, and Vladyslava Magaletska, Co-chair of the Committee on Agri-Food Business of UUE acted as moderators of event.

“In Credit Agricole, we aim to be a reliable financial partner to agrarians. It is important for us to help customers find their way around in the changing market and therefore, our experts share analytical information at business events on a regular basis. Today, agrarian sector faces a lot of challenges: infrastructure and logistics, as well as opening land market which starts causing active discussions. It is still unknown what its format will be but future opening of the land market is the fact to which we have to be prepared”, Larysa Bondarieva, Deputy CEO of Credit Agricole Bank and business breakfast moderator, commented. 

“Today a lot of attention is focused on the issues of the agrarian sector, which means a window of opportunities when we can come together and develop agribusiness’s proposals for the government. The best way is to do it via business associations. Currently, the agrarian committee is one of the most active in the UUE and it is involved in the issue of land market reform”, Tetiana Palamarchuk, acting Executive Director of the UUE, noted.

During the event, experts of the bank presented relevant analytical data on the market. Among the speakers, there were Nataliia Porvina, Head of Agro Business Support Department, Oleksandr Pecherytsyn, Chief Analyst of Trade and Structure Finance Department, and Yevhen Savchuk, expert of Agro Business Support Department.

Let us share key points raised at the business breakfast:

  • share of agrarian portfolio in the total banking finance reached 8%;
  • in crisis period, agrarian enterprises proved to be reliable borrowers and therefore, more and more banks, including those that did not finance to agrisector historically, start working in this area;
  • the needs in agro finance for working capital and investment projects finance grow year to year;
  • Ukrainian GDP has been growing for the fourteenth quarter in a row. Record yield was one of the growth factors last year;
  • financial sector has been growing for the second year.

It should be noted that customers of the bank attended the event as audience members.
