Crédit Agricole Group reported €9.1 billion net income in 2021

The Crédit Agricole Group reported a net income Group share of €9.1 billion for 2021 – up +94.1% compared to 2020 – and €2.4 billion for the fourth quarter. The underlying net income Group share reached €8.5 billion in 2021 (+38.9% year on year) and €2.3 billion in the fourth quarter. The reported net income Group share for Crédit Agricole S.A. was €5.8 billion for 2021 – up 2.2-fold compared to 2020 – and €1.4 billion for the fourth quarter. The underlying net income Group share for Crédit Agricole S.A. was €5.4 billion for the year and €1.4 billion for the last quarter of 2021.

The very strong results for 2021 reflect the success of the collective mobilization to protect the economy from the consequences of the health crisis. With a notable 1.7 million new retail banking clients, there is strong business momentum in all business lines, reflecting the strength of Crédit Agricole’s universal retail banking model. This year, the Group has built upon its model, both through organic and extern growth.

The financial targets in the Crédit Agricole S.A. 2022 Medium-Term Plan were met in 2021, one year ahead of schedule. They were even exceeded, with the unwinding of 100% of the switch mechanism this year, allowing for the simplification of the capital structure of Crédit Agricole S.A. The Group’s financial robustness and the profitability of Crédit Agricole S.A. rank it among the leaders in the sector in Europe. A €1.05 per share dividend will be proposed for the year 2021. Given our mutualist and cooperative model, almost 80% of our net income at Group level will be retained and reinvested in the economy.

Furthermore, in the face of society’s challenges, the Crédit Agricole Group has announced ten ambitious commitments, at the heart of all its business, centered around three priority areas: climate; social cohesion and inclusion; and agrifood and agriculture transitions.

The Group stands by its long-term commitments and will present its new development plan focused on accelerating transition on 22 June.
